Last week was absolutely horrid as far as work is concerned. I was dragging everyday and even pitched a little fit on Friday when I got really tired and wanted to leave work. Unprofessional. Although I did have an interview at InStyle that morning and it went super well. Cross your fingers for me that I can get a job out of this!!! Oh, annnnd I went to a socialite's birthday party Thursday and saw Caroline Manzo from Real Housewives NJ with her family.

But the weekend was fantastic. Friday I went to an event hosted by a friend for a bit and then came back to the good 'ol Webster for time on the roof with my friends.

Saturday I went with Ashleigh and some of her college friends to Cold Spring, NY. It is this little antique town about 90 minutes outside of the city and completely serene. People go there to hike, kayak, shop, etc. The views were breathtaking, the sun was out, and all was well with the world. I only heard one car honk the whole time and everyone was super friendly :) I came back around 3pm, napped, and went to babysit for my favorite little girl ever. I love getting paid to play with Play Dough!

Sunday was quaint. Went to church then walked downtown with Ashleigh, Jamie, and Rigo to a new park that opened. So cool because it was made from an old subway line, but the line down the block was not cool. Afterward, we stopped for happy hour and sat outside in the gorgeous weather until around 5 pm. It was just an easy-going day. I came back to the Webster and ate din din with Ashleigh at Chipotle and on our way back we saw Nicole Kidman and Keith Urban! They had just seen Public Enemies at the theater on our block. So neat!

Operation: Combat the Fat is back on so I went walking by the river yesterday evening and got up at freakin' 5:30 am to Rollerblade. I only fell once, compared to the four times before :) Progress.... It's going to be a good week, I can feel it!

7.06.2009

Gosh, it's almost been a whole week since my last post! Well the end of last week was great because I had a half-day Thursday and off on Friday for 4th of July weekend. Oh 4th of July....

Friday night, the girls and I partook in an Oklahoma tradition called Beeritas. "What are Beeritas?" you may ask. They are a lethal mix of beer, tequila, triple sec, and Limeaide that taste like a margarita. Lethal, enough said. I had six :) Saturday was July 4th of course and I had plans to go to Hoboken, NJ for a friend's party. Cute boys, good food, etc. It was a wild time to say the least (rice krispy treats were made at like 2 am among other things) and missed the last train back to the city. I woke up at 7ish to catch another one and did a seriously degrading walk of shame down Washington Ave. Made it back to the good 'ol Webster and slept hard. The other girls just stayed in the city and hung out on the Hudson where Macy's was putting on the fireworks this year.

Sunday was a fabulous day of relaxation, sun, and fabulous company. Meg, Jamie, Emma, Sita, and I went to Sheep's Meadow to lay out and then went to this bangin' Mexican restaurant called "La Esquina". The ingredients were so fresh... nothing like Moe's or Qdoba. Little Italy was only a few blocks away we ate cannolis/gelato to reward ourselves for such a great 4th. I was sleeping by 10:30 as the weekend had taken its toll on me. Loved it!

The day that started too early...

Today was a day from hell. Straight from the fire-burning pit down below. I woke up around 2:30 this morning couldn't go back to sleep for the life of me. I flipped and flopped around until I gave up and just surfed the web and listened to music until my alarm went off at 7. Anyone who knows me even remotely knows that when I don't get enough sleep, I can be a real piece of work (cranky, emotional, bitchy, etc). In my defense, I warn them :)

So barely make it downstairs for breakfast and I am like a zombie. I literally can't tell you what really happened except for a few key points:

1. Damara was on Vogue.com
2. Vogue Courtney moved out :(
3. I got a potential 4th of July Hamptons invite (crucial to living in NYC)
4. I dropped my pineapple all over my shirt and on Ashleigh's face (sorry!)

After breakfast, Ashleigh, Sarah, and I walked to work together and of course I got there 10 minutes late but no one cared. It was already destined to be a crappy day at work because of the 7 straight hours of phone calls I had to make, but then Thomas, the sales director, gave me over 80 prints to photocopy and catalog for someone to pick one pattern for a pair of pants. That job took me 5 hours by itself. Let's just pile on the fact that I was grumpy and tired. By the time lunch rolled around I ran as fast as I could to Starbucks and sucked down my Grande Iced Coffee w/ Vanilla and Skim Milk. Who knew I would start drinking coffee?! It gave me a slight boost but I crashed around 3pm and was so frustrated/tired that I just wanted to cry and go home for a nap, but I made it to 4pm! VICTORY!

Tonight was the regular dinner crowd and pure relaxation. NYC can make a person crazy! I am definitely worried about obtaining a full-time job and living successfully in this city. Praying to God that I can just go with the flow :)

6.28.2009

So many things to think about...

Today was kind of a reflective day of sorts. I realized I have a lot to think about in the next few months, especially concerning housing, jobs, etc. and it is slightly stressful. In fact, my stress has heightened since moving to NYC and I need to find some time for peace in my days.

Ideas:
1.yoga
2.church
3.gym

All of these things are important parts of my life that have helped me reign in on the hustle-and-bustle of the city, I just need to implement them on a daily basis now. Meg, Ashleigh, and i ventured up 5th Ave. to catch a peak of the Gay Pride Parade. A sight to behold! Then we spent the latter portion of the afternoon tanning in the park. It is so easy to mentally "check out" in Sheep's Meadow where we were hanging out. It is so beautiful and full of life.

Afterwards, we went to our respective churches and met back at the Webster on the rooftop to wind up our evening, per usual :) My church is doing a city outreach this week and the message just made me aware of the fact that my heart isn't always positioned towards seeing things the way God sees them. Everyone needs a little more compassion.

My mom comes back from Africa tomorrow! So excited because I miss her a lot and my poor dad is so lonely without his partner-in-crime lol. Also, my heart goes out to all of my friends that are struggling with everything (family, jobs, friends, etc.). I am sure that everything will work out for the greater good in the end. Love you all!

Here comes the end of July

My gosh, time flies. July 12th is my 2 month anniversary of moving to the city and I don't want to leave yet! I was so afraid that this was going to turn out just like last spring when I was at MC, but so far, so good :)

It's been four days since my last post and not much has happened. I went to the Keith Lissner Trunk Show and that was so much fun!

The rest of the workweek was pretty much a washout. I took a Summer Friday because working for free is not ideal lol and spent my free time napping, shopping, eating, etc. Pinkberry was giving away free cups of their new flavors (coconut and passion fruit) for summer so the girls and I went. The line wasn't too long and the passion fruit was delish!

Saturday we went to Central Park and tried to wait in line for Shakespeare in the Park tickets. Twelfth Night is on stage and Anne Hathaway has a small role. Alas, the line was too long and people had gotten there at 4 am when we were just rolling in at 8:30. Ha, what a joke. We spent the afternoon in the park, rode the Carousel, saw Turtle Pond, visited a castle/fortress and then I headed on my way to a job interview for babysitting. Surprisingly this family was cuckoo for cocoa puffs like every other family in the city.

At 7pm I had a real babysitting gig and got home around 11ish where the nightly rooftop routine commenced with Meg. This city is so beautiful and every time I am on the roof, I just love it more and more. The sky was clear and you could see the stars, it was quiet, and super peaceful.

Being a socialite is so tough....

Today I just wasn't going to win. As I am walking to work with Ashleigh, I suddenly realize that my purse seems really light. I stopped, dropped it on the ground, and took everything out in the middle of the sidewalk. NO WALLET. Mind you, this was at 8:30 am so I looked like a freak with everything on the ground. It sucked even more that I was only a block away from work and had to turn right back around and spend the morning at the bank freezing accounts, consolidating funds, etc.

Around 12:30 pm I finally got everything straightened out and headed back to work. I was secretly hoping it would take longer at the bank so I could skip work and just go to my evening event, but of course not. I was completely unproductive and played computer games for the 2 hrs that I stayed.

The only glimmer of hope in the day was the trunk show/cocktail party at The Green Room NYC. I was really excited and ran from work to get there early and help out. I met Keith Lissner of The Fashion Show, Devorah Rose of Social Life magazine, Derek of Derek Loves Shopping, and some other random people. Made a lot of contacts, schmoozed, took pictures! It was a good time and I thoroughly enjoyed myself :)

That's What I Love About Sundays...

I am almost convinced that Sunday is better than Friday. I think "Sunday" and automatically a calm washes over me. Today was no different. Brunch at Jane was fantastic, despite some directional challenges on my part. Jamie, Ashleigh, and I brunched it up in style and stuffed our faces sufficiently. It was cool because we all ordered different things and got different breakfast cocktails. Of course I got a mimosa :)

Brunch lasted from 12:30-3pm and then we trekked back to the Webster and relaxed. I took a teaser nap, but it was ok because I hung out with one of my recent friends and we just talked forever. That time was much needed :) Becca, Ashleigh, and I went to the night church service and the sermon was eerily applicable to our lives at that point. Right place at the right time. Service was a tad long (2 hrs! so I took that as an opportunity to boy hunt in church. Awful. I know lol) but the Gallery Church family is so welcoming and I am so blessed to have found them. Dear Gallery Church, I choose you!

I have no idea what to expect from work this week but the highlight is going to be an awesome event I am going to Wednesday at the Green Room. It's a private Keith Lissner collection viewing with a cocktail party to follow. Ivanka Trump is supposed to come, but is it sad that I can't wait to meet Alex from the Real Housewives more?
Oh.My.Goodness. It has been raining here in the city for like the past week! Absolutely ridiculous that we are claiming this crap as "summer". Just had to get that out.

My last post was Thursday and other than the usual (work, eat, sleep, etc.) it's been a pretty uneventful few days. I absolutely cannot stand working on Fridays so I went in and lied about having a doctor's appointment so I could leave at 1pm instead of 4pm. Yes, I know. I am ballsy.

Jetted out of the office and went back to the Webster before venturing to Century 21. Century 21 is like TJ Maxx and Marshalls threw up into one huge, obnoxious, department store. Add a few hundred unaware/uneducated shoppers and it is a NIGHTMARE. I went once last weekend and thought I would unleash my wrath on the next person that rolled their cart over my foot. Take a Xanax (I don't recommend medication, but possibly some deep breathing could work?) I found some great things though, and will continue to go back, no matter how many anxiety issues that store gives me :)

Friday night was super low-key. Some of the girls went to the Intrepid to watch a free showing of Top Gun and the rest of us stayed at good ol' Webby and bonded over alcove time (tears, laughing, dancing, etc.) Saturday was just a flop of a day. Intermittent rain throughout, so we saw a matinee of The Hangover. I LAUGHED OUT LOUD AND WAS IN STITCHES IT WAS SO FUNNY. Get this, matinee is Friday-Sunday for any movie before noon and it costs $6. Regularly priced tickets are $12. Dumb. Enough said. For anyone that knows me well enough, I took a nap of course, then lounged around until I had to babysit at 7pm. The weekend trains are wacky so it took forever to get to the UWS. Rant #2: I don't enjoy relying on public transportation when I have the potential to be late. And I hate being late.

I am so excited for Sunday. It is one of the best days of the week besides Friday because it relaxes, refocuses, and refreshes before you have to get back to work on Monday. I love my routine of breakfast, church, brunch/lunch, nap, vegging.

6.18.2009

It's been a few days since my last post, but nothing has really happened that was exciting enough to blog about. Last night the girls and I went out to Mercury Bar on 46th and 9th for Hump Day Happy Hour. It was a lot of fun and the first "real" time that we had gone out as a group. The music was just right (late 90s/early 2000s) and so were the drink specials. One of the bartenders, Johnathan, was so good looking, but I didn't have enough liquid courage to go start a conversation. To top it off, the Hypnotiq promoters were there and we got free drinks, t shirts, lip gloss, and some bangin' glow necklaces that made us look ridiculous :)

After the bar, some girls went out for a bit longer, but I knew myself well enough to go home or else I wouldn't be typing this post here at my work desk haha. All in all, great Wednesday and now the weekend is almost here. Highlight = Sunday brunch @ Jane!!!

Side Note: I got home and my door was wide open. How this happened idk, but my umbrella was gone. Not my Mac Book, but my $9 umbrella. Dang it, it's raining today and I needed that.

6.15.2009

Fierce and Fabulous Weekend :)

I had such a great weekend! Friday night was the ValSecret party at the Trump World Bar and it was so swanky. It was a good excuse for pretty people to get together, drink, and dance all night. SO MUCH FUN and now I am all over guestofaguest.com.

Saturday was a big mishmash of awesomeness (while being slightly hungover). First we went to a flea market that was located in a converted parking garage. We had gone to another one earlier in the month closer to The Webster, but this one was more vintage-y.

I really wanted an owl necklace last time but the lady wouldn't sell it to me for $18 (she just had to have $20!) so Jamie, with her eagle eyes, spotted this bangin' owl necklace. It is gold with purple glass eyes and will pretty much match my whole wardrobe. Exciting :) We also went to this obscure coffee shop with great advertising. This poster said at the top, "What's your preference?" and of course it is talking about coffee, but it could also apply to men. To prove a point, there was a buff guy printed on the corner.
Next was the BBQ Block Party in Washington Square Park. Different BBQ places compete every year and it was so refreshing to have real "southern bbq". Tasty.

Afterwards, we played around at FIT on their steel sculpture and took ridiculously juvenile photos that are super cute and went for cupcakes at the famed Billy's Bakery (Martha says they have the best vanilla cake and I agree). I was spent and took a nap while the others explored more.

Sunday was like a Sunday should be, easy and relaxing. Jamie and I went to this church called Gallery and I absolutely loved it. I will definitely be going back. Then I got to take part in a Manhattan tradition, BRUNCH! I met Alex at this cute restaurant called Jane in NoHo. I had biscuit, grits, scrambled eggs, and chicken sausage, plus a complimentary Mimosa. That sealed the deal. Of course a nap followed, then met up with the girls for Molly's going away dinner. Sad to see her go, but jealous because she is off to New Zealand, the lucky duck. It was a good meal with good people :)

TGIF!

Work was pretty normal today. I ID'd sample garments, shipped stuff all over, and took pictures for the website. You know what I didn't do though?! Surf the internet. The French intern thought it would be a good idea to go to her foreign websites on my computer and now it has viruses. I was able to check my email though and received and random Facebook friend request.

This girl named Valeria of ValSecrets.com is hosting a party tonight at the Trump Towers and I'm going, but I have never met her. Sarah, PR girl at The Green Room, invited me along so I confirmed on Facebook. The next day I get a friend request from Valeria. I am really looking forward to tonight. We are going to let loose, dance, and just not have a care in the world about our work weeks left behind.

More to come... Hopefully pics :)

6.11.2009

Today was the longest.day.ever.... 9-2 went by pretty fast, but the last 2 hours seemed to creep by. My supervisor up and went to CA for the weekend without telling me so I was at the service of Thomas, Director of Sales. Love the guy, but I was helping him organize his messy office all while he was singing Top 40s off key. He was having boyfriend drama again today and it showed LOL.

Totally skipped out on the Ed2010 party yesterday, but my friend won the $1000 trust fund! So proud of him. Everyone is doing some really cool stuff lately: Becca did a food photo shoot today, Jamie's department bought her a Coach bag, etc. I have started putting some feelers out for volunteer work and jobs. I HAVE to be in PR. It's pretty much what I'm cut out to do because I'm social. One step at a time.

Excited because I'm babysitting Saturday night. The little girl is adorable :) This weekend is going to be good. I can feel it and now I am off to get my yoga on with Jamie. NAMASTE.

6.10.2009

Update: So I totally didn't go to the mixer... too lazy. Oops. Tomorrow is Thursday, which means the day after that is Friday. Just thought I would let you know :)
Yesterday was the longest day ever. I had some serious "I need a nap" moments annnnd my babysitting gig cancelled, so I'm ticked. I was actually looking forward to it.

Anyways, today at work has been busy. I've been picking out fabrics for upcoming seasons and taking pictures for the website. Tonight there is a Welcome to NYC intern party from Ed2010. I am soooo going :)

6.09.2009

Work update: So today the office has been super quiet because there are only 3 of us in this afternoon. I thought I was going to be given some busy work to tide me over, but no... I got a special assignment.

My boss, the sales director, is having me write his Match.com profile to find his next boy-toy! I know I am knowledgeable on the subject of dating, but since when did I become an expert?! Haha I should start charging for my services :)
Not that I sleep well anyway, but the thunder and lightning last night was terrible. I woke up around 2:30 this morning to an illuminated room and promptly pulled the covers up to my nose. Usually I am not afraid of lightning but this was intense; as if it was reaching through my window.

Thanks to the crappy weather, I didn't sleep and now look like death that has been rained on haha. The French intern will be sure to remind me of that when she innocently says, "You are sick, no? You don't look well." But she doesn't really know any better. Positive note: I got new lemon yellow rain boots! They're super cute and as I was walking to work, I realized I could actually walk right through all the puddles instead of dodge them. FUNNN :)

Today should be pretty normal. Work until 4, hair salon at 4:30, dinner, etc. Keep you posted!

6.08.2009

Monday, Monday...

Sorry to report, but nothing exciting happened today. Just a regular ol' Monday.

6.07.2009

The Tony Awards

So today was super fun! Woke up slightly hungover, but it was evidence of a great night on the rooftop. Molly, Ashleigh, Jamie, and I went to Bloomingdale's to scout out our next big purchases. I found one too many things that I wanted but the Foley & Corinna bag tops the list (it functions as a tote and a satchel).

After that excursion we all went to chill for a bit and reconvened at 4 to go see the celebrities walk the red carpet for the Tony Awards. I didn't get too many fabulous pictures but here is the list of who I saw:

Amy Poehler
Jilly & Bobby Zarin
Kevin Spacey
Neil Patrick Harris
Colin Hanks
Dolly Parton
John Stamos (Uncle Jesse from Full House)
Jane Fonda
Will Ferrell
Anne Hathaway
Chandra Wilson (Dr. Bailey on Grey's)
Constantine Maroulis (Am. Idol wash-up)
Bret Michaels (VH1 Rock of Love)
Allison Janney
Piper Perabo
Marcia Gay Hardin
Lauren Graham (Loralie on Gilmore Girls)
Angela Lansbury (Murder She Wrote)
Rod Stewart
James Gandolfini (Tony on the Sopranos)

This is just a sampling of pictures, but there are more on Facebook. I also got interviewed by some person with a camera because I asked him to take my picture. I meant for him to use my camera but he put his huge video camera in my face and started asking me all of these questions like: "What did you think of the red carpet?", "Who were you looking forward to the most?", etc. That was unexpected but fun!

Well I had a little too much fun last night on the roof :) Woke up feeling/looking like complete ca ca.

We have plans to go to church and then at 4, go to Radio City Music Hall and crash the Tony's. Hopefully we will get some awesome pics of the red carpet entrances! Other than that, it's going to be one of those regular Sundays (laundry, naps, lunch, etc.)

Really looking forward to this week though. Not necessarily work, but is it sad that I can't wait to babysit on Wednesday night?!?

6.06.2009

Night festivities on the roof. This should be fun so I am off to the liquor store to get my favorite stuff...MARGARITAS! My mom thinks I'm becoming a lush lol.

Side Note: met this cute German guy today and chatted him up in broken Deutsch, the nails look great, and I WILL make it to church in the morning :)
Woke up this morning and surprisingly didn't have a headache from my monster bottle of Mike's Hard Lemonade. That stuff is so gross, but I finished it last night in the alcove with everyone. I really enjoy just getting our own beverages, meeting up, and having a laid-back evening. So much less stressful than actually going out.

I had a blast working the H&M/Cookie casting! I was helping with arts and crafts where the kids made button jewelry. They were all so adorable and I can't wait to see who wins. The Special Events Coordinator from Cookie and I talked a bit before and after the gig and she gave me her business card. The resume is going to be sent ASAP because working for Cookie would be a dream.

Got back and took a nap (duh) while the other girls explored different neighborhoods of Manhattan. I was just super tired, but I need to get up and do something. Jamie is back so we are going shopping and getting our nails done :)

More later....

6.05.2009

Dinner is always a surprise at The Webster. Last night was no different with baby octopus on the salad bar. "Seafood Salad"... YUCK.

Woke up around 6:45 and thought, "What a great day to roll back over and skip work!". It's a drizzly day in the city and perfect for staying in, but alas, I did not and got ready for Casual Friday. I might pull out the sick card later in the afternoon though :)

This weekend should be interesting. The girls and I have planned to go to APT in the Meatpacking District for a little night out on the town tonight. Tomorrow morning I am so excited because I will be working a casting call for H&M/Cookie Magazine. They are in search of 2 adorable children for an H&M ad in Cookie, and I LOVE Cookie! Schmoozing to ensue (you know I do it so well!)

6.04.2009

This just in...

"Good Morning, Jonden!"

I am now the only intern because they told the other one that she "wasn't needed" for awhile. Aghhh so much more for me to do now! Here is my "office":

Update: I had to man-handle mannequins at the office for a website photo shoot. If you could've seen it, it was awkward :) Now I am busy doing absolutley nothing and that is just fine with me!

3 weeks in...

So I've been in NYC for about three weeks now and have been the most awful blogger ever (I haven't haha).

Work is going really well. It's slightly repetitive but I am getting offered a part-time postion after my internship ends mid-July. They have me doing all kinds of things: mass mailers for market week, taking pics for the website, expanding our retailer database, etc. Sounds important right?!

I love this city; smog, pigeon poop, and all. It's so great and it's even better with the friends I've made so far. We are a fun group of strikingly different people and it's awesome because everyone brings something to the table.

Only bummer this week is that everyone has visitors and I do not :( I just need to get away for a weekend and then I will be ready to come back with a vengance. I will stop here, as I am at work, but there is so much I want to write. So much I want to write but I can't. Ask me and I will tell you everything :)

5.12.2009

I'm Back!

Today I finally moved to NYC for real! So exciting, but it's been a tiring day so I will edit this post tomorrow and fill you in on all of the nitty gritty details of my first day in the city :)

3.15.2009

STRESS

This past week was my last spring break ever. I spent it sick and throwing up every day. Seriously?!? Tomorrow starts the last 8 weeks of college EVER and I am so thankful for that, but my nerves are about to get the best of me. Moving to NYC has been my dream forever and it's finally coming to fruition; just not how I want it to. I don't want to live in a stupid dormitory with a bunch of hormonal girls. It was miserable last time and this time I'm pretty sure it won't be much different. Grrr I don't understand why I just can't rent an apartment of my own. I just don't. That was me venting :)

3.12.2009

What happens in Hoboken...

Stays in Hoboken!

Just got back from a weekend in Hoboken, NJ to hang with Kathleen. I went on "the best weekend" because Saturday was the city's St. Patrick's Day celebration. Wild does not even begin to describe the day. There is a main street called Washington where all of the action was going on. The bars opened at 9 am and lines were formed around the blocks! Insanity. We woke up, went to this amazing bagel place (Bagels on the Hudson), and stuff ourselves with carbs to get ready for the busy day ahead. The bagels were GREEN and sooo good! If you haven't experienced a true bagel, you are missing out. The girls and I proceeded back to the apartment to eat and get ready because our first party guests were coming at 10. Let the drinking begin. Yes, I started drinking at 10 am and will never, ever do it again. Drinks flowed and (weird) people came, so the party was a great success lol. I just went with it. The parade was amazing because we my friends and I "were the MF parade!" and just jumped in with them. At some point I crashed for a little nap and then started back up again until 11pm. Long night, great midnight pizza, bad decisions, even worse hangover in the morning. Like I said, never, ever again.

On a more positive, and forward-thinking note, I went to visit my future place of employment Friday afternoon to get some papers signed. I opened the door and the president recognized me right away. I was well received and I loved it because my biggest worry was that they would forget about me. She signed the papers and then introduced me to everyone in the office that day. To one of the interns she said, "This is Krysta. She will not be here before you leave but she is our superstar intern." Superstar Intern?!? Best compliment ever and I haven't even started, so I have a lot to live up to. As I was leaving, boss lady was like "I really need you here. Can you come two weekends from now and help with a Bat Mitzvah and their signature Wedding Salon show. This Mitzvah isn't any mitzvah... oh no. The Pussy Cat Dolls are performing! AGHHH! Hello, count me in. Any excuse I can have to get out of school works for me, I just hope she will pay for my plane ticket because I am not Miss Money Bags.

3.01.2009

It's been way too long since my last post, but that is not to say that I haven't had a lot on my mind. Lately I have been reminded in subtle ways that I am truly blessed and that God provides in every situation. That is such a comforting thought to know that I will always have Him on my team, even though I face opposition.
Everything is chugging along and there are eight weeks left until graduation. To say I can't wait is an understatement. There is a countdown in my planner and a time-line for things to get done. Calls are made to NY daily in anticipation and Craigslist is being used in heavy rotation. I even got a box and have started "packing" lol. Jillian got through to the final round of interviews for Teach for America so she is silently freaking out, but it's really exciting :) We are going to be big girls now!
NYC is calling my name and I'm ready to answer!

1.19.2009

"Everything's changing....

when I turn around, all out of my control, I'm mobile."

Oh my, am at at a crossroads in my life. The new year is going to be so exciting, starting with Obama's inauguration tomorrow into the White House. Honestly, I think Obama and our success as a country is the least of my worries. Graduation is looming and while I am soooo ready to move to the next chapter of my life, but at the same time I am scared of all of the changes that are about to take place.

Moving to NYC. Maybe the single most important step ever. It's been in the works for years and now it is finally come to fruition. I have a great internship with an event planning firm and the go-ahead from the parents to look at apartments, but I am overwhelmed. So many anxieties... Will I fail like I did the first time? Will I love what I'm doing? Will I make friends? ... It is exhausting.

I don't have room for more worries, but one of my best friends is leaving to go abroad in a few days and I am just not ready. He is such an important part of my collegiate life and I love him. I will miss him. Enough said. End of story.

1.09.2009

Dunzo!

Heck yes, I am so done with internship interviews! All 6 six down and none to go. I know exactly what I want now and how I am going to get it. Unfortunately, Victoria's Secret the Volvo is going bye-bye come May :( but will be swiftly traded up for an apartment in downtown Manhattan! My plans to work for a children's fashion company are coming to fruition and it's lovely. The company I hope to work for is young, small, cute, and ready to explode with possibility. CANNOT WAIT!

Mr. Weather Forecast is dampening my spirits because it is supposedly going to snow 3-5" tonight and tomorrow. I need to fly home, asap! Hopefully I can get on standby for an early flight. Things to do, people to see, last semester to start. WHOOP WHOOP!

1.08.2009

I think I've found...

Where I want to work! AGH! My interview this morning went so exceptionally well with the children's clothing company and I am just pumped ... and the perks of this job are crazy good. Flexible hours, trips to the Hamptons, cute clothes, down-to-earth boss. I mean I couldn't ask for more. Hope they felt the same way because I don't even want to go on these other interviews but here we go...

Oh my, it is so freakin...

COLD! Sitting here on my "bed" in the dirty dirty Jerz getting ready for the second round of interviews. Yesterday's were good, one lasting two hours and the other I got a special "assignment" to see what I can do. They were good but now I am ready for today's two. I really want this first one I have in the morning with the cutest childrens' clothing company. I would be doing PR and I loooove it! We shall see. Wish me luck!

Leavin' on a Jet Plane...

Yay! Finally I am on my way to NJ/NY to visit with my faves and relax before another semester of school begins. Too bad there won't be much relaxing, as I have six internship interviews scheduled in three days. Can we say "mayday"!? All I hope for on this trip is one of of six, that's it. Preferrably paid because you can't live in Manhattan for free :( More interview updates to come later in the week!
