Let's Get This Rolling...Again

So it's not the new year yet, but after Christmas seems like the perfect time to start making resolutions that I can actually keep. Of course, exercise is on the top of the list. I will continue my vigorous yoga routine and be a cardio master. Oh, and I have taken up a new sport; rock climbing, which is basically the coolest thing out there. I climbed for about 3 hours on Sunday and I am hooked! Also, I will be updating my blog every once an awhile. Get ready for randomness from my interesting life...

Next week I have 5 interviews in NYC for another internship this summer. Read earlier posts to see how the last one went (haha). This one will be different though, I just feel it :) Crossing all my fingers and toes that I get an awesome opportunity!

It's Been Awhile....

I act like I've been so consumed with work that I have no time to do other things, but in reality I am just lazy and don't feel like writing sometimes. Quick update: I've been here for one month exactly and I thought this whole experience would be slightly different. Everyone is saying "give it time" but I don't know how long I can wait for people to become friendly and for my job to become awesome. You just never know what you're going to get when at MC. One moment it's chill and the next women are running around yelling about finding "those f-ing shoes". I used to care about that kind of stuff once, but now I'm realizing that I want more out of my life than a nice handbag. Anyways, I get to go home for a few days in Feb. and cannot wait to see my family. They are what is keeping me sane through all of this lol. Everything hasn't gone downhill, but it's been a windy ride so far and I'm hoping for some stability soon. I still have some hope that it will be awesome in the end. I mean how bad can it be when you get to work an MC event hosting Christy Turlington and her charitable organization for a grand dinner? I think it should be pretty cool :)

What A Whirlwind!

Ok, so I know this entry is well overdue but my internship has taken over my life! I started on Wednesday, January 4th and basically jumped in head first. I met some of the other interns and they taught me how to do most of my jobs (checking clothes in/out, running errands, etc.) It was a bit overwhelming to say the least. I didn't expect anyone to hold my hand but there wasn't even a period of adjustment. I was just thrown into the wolves. I was way overdressed the first day in my cute black dress with tights, but I looked good. Thankfully, I can wear jeans to work (phew!). I am ultra friendly so being in a new environment was kind of hard because my new colleagues were hard to read, but it's getting easier. By Friday I was a pro and I even get to teach the newbies what to do on Monday! I've been working until like 7pm every night, which is a bit much, but it was only the first 3 days and let me tell you, what an adventure! Thursday was the best day. Some of the other editors don't have interns yet so they had to borrow some of us. I got to make a look board for 2 upcoming fashion shoots and also ran a special errand! MC is entering the National Magazine Awards and the entries were due 5pm Thursday night. Everyone in the office was rushing around trying to get things together and it wasn't until 4:45 that things were ready to go. They picked me, of all people, to transport these precious materials to Columbia University. They ordered a Town Car for me and told the driver to basically hightail it. I got there with maybe 2 minutes to spare and I was so out of breath because I had to run and the box was almost 40 lbs, but I got there just in time. If they had been late, MC would've had to pay $1000 +/- in fees and I saved the day! It was so good to feel like I accomplished something good and I was recognized for it.Seriously a "Devil Wears Prada" moment! Now I am starting to build relationships with other people in the office so that I can network effectively. Took some pictures of what will basically be my home for the next 5.5 months... THE FASHION CLOSET! The weekend is over and it's back to the daily grind. Part of me is cringing but I'm always hopeful for those amazing, life-changing moments :)

New Years and Work....

Details coming this weekend. I've been too tired to write anything or post any pictures. My life is my internship right now. More to come....
