Ok, so I know this entry is well overdue but my internship has taken over my life! I started on Wednesday, January 4th and basically jumped in head first. I met some of the other interns and they taught me how to do most of my jobs (checking clothes in/out, running errands, etc.) It was a bit overwhelming to say the least. I didn't expect anyone to hold my hand but there wasn't even a period of adjustment. I was just thrown into the wolves. I was way overdressed the first day in my cute black dress with tights, but I looked good. Thankfully, I can wear jeans to work (phew!). I am ultra friendly so being in a new environment was kind of hard because my new colleagues were hard to read, but it's getting easier. By Friday I was a pro and I even get to teach the newbies what to do on Monday! I've been working until like 7pm every night, which is a bit much, but it was only the first 3 days and let me tell you, what an adventure! Thursday was the best day. Some of the other editors don't have interns yet so they had to borrow some of us. I got to make a look board for 2 upcoming fashion shoots and also ran a special errand! MC is entering the National Magazine Awards and the entries were due 5pm Thursday night. Everyone in the office was rushing around trying to get things together and it wasn't until 4:45 that things were ready to go. They picked me, of all people, to transport these precious materials to Columbia University. They ordered a Town Car for me and told the driver to basically hightail it. I got there with maybe 2 minutes to spare and I was so out of breath because I had to run and the box was almost 40 lbs, but I got there just in time. If they had been late, MC would've had to pay $1000 +/- in fees and I saved the day! It was so good to feel like I accomplished something good and I was recognized for it.Seriously a "Devil Wears Prada" moment! Now I am starting to build relationships with other people in the office so that I can network effectively. Took some pictures of what will basically be my home for the next 5.5 months... THE FASHION CLOSET! The weekend is over and it's back to the daily grind. Part of me is cringing but I'm always hopeful for those amazing, life-changing moments :)
